Origin/Class: Chainbreaker – Arcane Vanguard
Sylas is a 7-cost champion with a completely unique “rotating spell” mechanic in Set 16. His power lies in cycling through three different abilities, and he cannot cast the same spell twice in a row, creating a dynamic mix of offense, defense, and sustain throughout the fight.
Drawing strength from chaotic Arcane magic and the resilience of Chainbreaker, Sylas excels at dealing consistent damage while remaining extremely durable in extended teamfights.
Unlock Requirement:
Activate 4 Chainbreaker/Arcane Region Traits during combat.
This grants Sylas enhanced magical power, bonus durability, and additional spell upgrades depending on the traits you are running.
✅ HOW TO UNLOCK SYLAS – TFT SET 16
Sylas is a 7-cost Unlockable Champion, which means he WILL NOT appear in your shop unless you meet the correct Region requirement tied to his trait.
Sylas belongs to:
- Origin: Chainbreaker
- Class: Arcanist / Defender
However, his unlock condition is tied ONLY to Chainbreaker, not his classes.
⭐ 🔓 Unlock Condition for Sylas
Sell 2-star Jarvan, 2-star Garen & 2-star Lux
→ ACTIVATE 4 CHAINBREAKER
Once your team reaches 4 Chainbreaker, Sylas becomes unlocked and can now appear in your shop as a standard 7-cost champion.
❌ Without 4 Chainbreaker → Sylas NEVER appears
✔ With 4 Chainbreaker → Sylas CAN appear
🎯 Important Notes:
✔ You only need to unlock him one time
After Sylas appears and you purchase him, you may drop below 4 Chainbreaker and still use him normally.
✔ If you haven’t purchased Sylas yet and you drop below 4 Chainbreaker → he stops appearing
You must reactivate 4 Chainbreaker to see him in the shop again.
✔ Standard 7-cost shop odds apply:
- Level 7 → extremely rare
- Level 8 → low
- Level 9 → best chance
📌 Simple Example
If your board has:
- Darius
- Katarina
- Rell
- Morgana
→ You now have 4 Chainbreaker → Sylas becomes unlocked.
After buying him, you can freely change your comp even if you drop to 2–3 Chainbreaker.
🔥 Why does Sylas require unlocking?
Because Sylas is a very powerful 7-cost unit with:
- a unique 3-ability rotation,
- high AP damage,
- defensive utility,
- strong late-game performance,
Riot restricts him behind the Chainbreaker activation to prevent early-game snowballing.
ABILITY: REBELLIOUS CHAINS
Mana: 0/40
Sylas rotates between three different abilities, casting one after another in sequence:
(1) Moonblood Chains
Unleashes a volatile burst of arcane energy, dealing 300/450/1500 magic damage and briefly binding the target.
(2) Prisonbreaker Slam
Slams the ground, dealing AoE magic damage and shredding the Armor/MR of all enemies hit for 4 seconds.
(3) Chaotic Consumption
Drains power from the enemy, healing Sylas for 20/25/40% of the damage dealt.
If the target has a shield, Sylas steals a portion of it as his own shield.
Note:
Sylas cannot cast the same ability back-to-back, creating a continuous rotation that becomes stronger the longer the fight lasts.
