If you’ve ever dreamed of being a ninja in feudal Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows makes that dream real—and dangerous.

Set during the chaotic Sengoku era, the game lets you play as two characters: Naoe, a swift kunoichi skilled in stealth, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai who charges head-on. You can switch between them depending on the mission, which adds a lot of flexibility and fun.

The open world is stunning and dynamic. Seasons change, and each one affects gameplay—snow makes it easier to hide, and summer opens up new attack routes. It’s not just beautiful; it’s strategic.

What surprised me most was how well it runs on the Switch 2. Ubisoft clearly put effort into optimizing it. Playing stealth missions handheld feels incredibly immersive—sneaking into enemy camps, cutting the lights, causing chaos, and vanishing like a ghost.

If you’re a longtime Assassin’s Creed fan or just love Japanese history and stealth gameplay, Shadows is a fantastic way to close out 2025.
